SITE S.p.A. contributes to the creation of the Data Centre of Modena, the new technological heart of the city
Once again, SITE S.p.A. took part in what was an ambitious project: the realisation of the Innovation Hub Data Centre of Modena, built in record time. The brand new structure is part of the urban regeneration “Peripheries” project promoted by CambiaMo S.p.A. The construction work was entrusted to the temporary grouping of companies made up of ITI Impresa Generale for the building works and SITE for the realisation of all the technological systems of the Data Centre, which is now the fourth in Emilia Romagna after those in Parma, Ferrara and Ravenna.
Client:
CambiaMo S.p.A,an urban transformation company of the Municipality of Modena, deals with the urban and social redevelopment of the R-North section of the city. In recent years, the company has implemented several urban regeneration programmes and interventions on behalf of the Municipality of Modena, aimed at overcoming the physical and social decline of the northern suburbs of the city and, in particular, in the area called ‘Ex Mercato Bestiame’, where the Innovation Hub Data Centre now stands, realised also thanks to the contribution of SITE.
Aim:
The aim of this new structure is to consolidate and make more efficient the ICT at a local level and host the CEDs of public and private entities, improving their quality and security. The Data Centre will also be a point of reference for research both in the field of IT security, with the Cyber Security Academy, and in the field of Artificial Intelligence in the automotive sector, with the Masa (Modena Automotive smart area) programme.
Solution:
The Modena Data Centre is a modern technological structure covering two floors with a total area of about 1,600 square metres. On a plant engineering level, it was completed by SITE S.p.A., which looked after of the work necessary to guarantee the redundancy of the network infrastructure, equipping the building with a dual high-performance fibre optic connection and 2 MW of electrical power. The plant is fitted with generators, UPS, switchboards and free cooling systems, network equipment and enterprise security systems. The server area is fitted with 2 hot aisle islands with 24 cabinets to house the computational power systems.
