RENO SYSTEM

The RENO (Recognition Echoes Near Object) System monitors continuously or on demand the stability and safety of riverbed bridges.

ADVANTAGES

With its dynamic monitoring capabilities, the RENO System allows you to:

  • Assess the safety of a bridge facing the risk of pier scouring
  • Assess the condition of the riverbed facing the risk of flooding
  • Assess the overall operating conditions of a bridge to determine whether to close it to traffic

The system can be configured in two different ways: the first configuration is based on frequency domain (FD) analysis (a SITE patent), while the second on time domain (TD) analysis using ultrasonic sensors.

FREQUENCY DOMAIN (FD) CONFIGURATION

The RENO FD probe, the operational hub of this system, is installed on a micropile that is planted in the riverbed upstream from the bridge pier that is to be monitored.
It consists of:

  • An accelerometer
  • A data acquisition card
  • A GSM-GPRS I/O modem
  • A thermo-hygrometer
  • An inclinometer

The hydrometer is installed on the bridge on a cantilever mount.
The micropile is made of a stainless steel profile.

TIME DOMAIN (TD) CONFIGURATION

Components

  • A RENO TD probe
  • A cantilever arm for probe mounting
  • Ultrasonic sensors

The RENO TD probe, the operational hub of this system, is installed on a cantilever mount attached to the bridge and collects the data coming from the ultrasonic sensors and compensators installed on the piers.

It consists of:

  • A data acquisition card
  • A GSM-GPRS I/O modem
  • A thermo-hygrometer
  • A hydrometer

The ultrasonic sensors are installed in pairs on the given pier’s spurs.
